In response to our article on The Palmer Family, Cloth Diaper News is coordinating auctions to benefit The Palmer’s and their move to Uganda. Please read and pass along the press release below:
Tulsa, OK (November 20, 2008) – In 2005, Michelle and Adam Palmer were moved to adopt a little boy, Francis, from Uganda. After two trips to Uganda and rulings both in Uganda and the US, Francis still remains in Uganda. The Palmers are his legal guardians yet, due to red tape, they are unable to bring him home. From her two trips there, Francis knows Michelle as his “mama” and tells people, “I’m going to America on a plane. I have a mommy and a daddy. I’m just waiting on the paperwork.”
Michelle and Adam have four other children and, since Francis can’t come home to them, their plan is to move the whole family to Uganda in January. By moving to Uganda and fostering Francis for three years they will be able to legally bring him home.
The Palmers are seeking donated items to be auctioned and all proceeds going to fund their move. Auctions are coordinated by Cloth Diaper News and hosted on their Hyena Cart location http://hyenacart.com/clothdiapernews If you are interested in donating, please contact Kristy DeGregory of Cloth Diaper News at firstname.lastname@example.org Donated items will be held by the donating party and shipped directly to the auction winner.
Michelle and Adam plan to continue cloth diapering their youngest, Charlotte, in Uganda. They will be living in a city where electricity runs just three times each week. Due to this, Michelle is looking to increase their cloth diaper supply. She is seeking items that dry quickly and do well with hand washing. They are currently using fitteds, prefolds, wool, fleece and covers. However they are open to any type of cloth diapers that may suit their new circumstances. Charlotte is currently in a size medium and they need to add to this size and also stock up for when she moves to a size large.
The Palmers also have a wonderful opportunity to bring donated pocket diaper inserts to the orphanage where Francis has been living, Amani Baby Cottage. This orphanage currently uses Fuzzi Bunz from an ongoing donation by Mother of Eden. They are in need of additional inserts for these diapers. If you have new or used inserts that need a new home, this is a wonderful opportunity to donate them. Please contact Michelle and Adam at email@example.com if you are interested in donating diapers for their stash or inserts for the orphanage.
