Baby BeeHinds USA Bamboo One-Size Fitteds Colors Giveaway

Baby BeeHinds USA is celebrating the arrival of their new Bamboo One-Size Fitteds in colors with a giveaway here on Cloth Diaper News.

USA distributor, Selena Volodzskis of Eco Brands and Global Enfant, has worked hard to keep the beloved Baby BeeHinds brand and these fabulous colors available to the US market. Baby BeeHinds started in Australia and had a strong US following. However at the end of 2008 the USA distributor at the time sold her business and that left the North American market without a distributor. Drybees Gone Natural Bamboo Diapers

Drybees Gone Natural bamboo diapers have just arrived and they are soooo incredibly soft. They are price Bamboo Cloth Diaper d much lower than similar diapers on the market, yet they are great quality and faster to dry than some other brands. The new Drybees Gone Natural diapers are made with an outer layer of bamboo velour and an inner layer of soft, absorbent bamboo fleece. My model is wearing a size 2 set on the medium rise. She is a tiny 12 pounds, but fits most one-size diapers on a medium setting or medium sized diapers.

The Drybees bamboo diaper are made in two sizes. The official size range for size 1 is 5-15 pounds, but they look to me like they will fit really well from about 5-12 pounds. The size 2 snaps down enough that I think I could have started Eva in it at 8 pounds, though the official size range is 12-36 pounds. For larger babies I think the size 2 will be very close to a one-size bamboo, though you will want the smaller size if you have a premie or small newborn.

The Drybees Gone Natural has 2 additional soakers, one that snaps in and an upper soaker that is bamboo velour topped. The upper soaker is sewn in. This makes for fast drying, with very little bulk.

The edges are serged in rainbow thread. The bamboo velour is unbleached but is a very soft, light beige. These fit well under Thirsties, Bummis, Sheepish Grins One Size Wool and Meadowlark Mountain Fleece diaper covers.

These diapers fasten with snaps, so no fear of the diaper snake or snagging in the wash. The snap in back soaker is covered by the front soaker so there are no snaps touching baby. The snap in soaker can be left in place for washing, so there is nothing to lose or find in the wash.

Natural vs. Synthetic Diaper Inners

In the cloth diapering world, there are many different fabrics offered. Some manufacturers only offer synthetic (polyester fleece and suedecloth) inners on their diapers, and some offer only natural fabrics like bamboo and cotton. Why do some people prefer one over the other? Each type of fabric offers different qualities.

Synthetic fabrics claim to wick moisture away from baby’s skin into the soaker. The stay-dry quality is important to many who fear rashes. Some synthetic fabrics may be more resistant to wear than their natural counterparts. Some people feel as though synthetic fabrics cause their baby to be more prone to rashes. This seems to be partly due to the way the fabrics react to detergents used in wash routines. Some choose synthetic fabrics because of their extended life. Others prefer to steer away from synthetic fabrics because of the processing used to create these fabrics. Some of the processing techniques are found in this article.

Natural fabrics have the benefit of being a renewable resource. Cotton, bamboo and hemp are some of the most widely used fabrics in the diaper industry. Bamboo and hemp are especially popular because of their ability to be grown without the use of pesticides and much (if any) irrigation. Cotton, unless it is organic, often uses a significant amount of pesticides in its growth. Both hemp and bamboo are reported to have antimicrobial properties, but this is more likely to be in the treatment of the fabric, rather than the fabric itself. As with synthetic fabrics, some people feel that their baby is more prone to rashes, most often from “being wet.” There is some question about the “friendliness” of the processes used to create bamboo fabrics, yet many look past this because of bamboo’s rapid growth and renewal. I could not find any non-biased research on how bamboo fabrics are made.

Both synthetic and natural fabrics are durable, soft and have wonderful qualities about them. Combined with all the variations for the outer barrier, you can find a truly customized diaper for your family’s needs. No matter what fabrics you choose, you are still making a difference for our world by not using a throw-away product.

When I first thought of Bamboo I have to admit that an image of a Panda Bear came to mind. He was just sitting there in my minds eye, munching on a piece of Bamboo somewhere in Asia… So you can imagine my surprise when I heard of Bamboo Cloth Diapers and Mama Pads. Manufacturer’s such as DryBee’s, Baby Bee Hinds, and BumGenius, have all introduced a line of Bamboo Diapers and accessories that have literally been flying off the shelves of Retailers across the globe, leaving other Manufacturers scrambling to play catch up.
