goodmama Stocking Creates a Flurry

February 22nd, 2008 · 20 Comments

Today is stocking day at goodmama and loyal fans certainly know it and are thrilled about the opportunity to grab one of these adorable fitted diapers.  One of our writers, Julia Clark, recently did an article on goodmamas’ Wishbox that offers parents the option to purchase 12 goodmamas without fighting the crowds.  At the end of her article, Julia asked:

“How many mamas think a dozen of the hottest selling diapers are worth $365.00? After all, they aren’t even waterproof.”

Apparently the answer is quite a few.  Over on Diaper Swappers, there is a thread devoted to today’s stocking – and stalking – activity.  Amazingly this thread is up to 3,068 replies, 42, 235 views and growing rapidly.

Suzanne Dunford, the mama behind goodmama, is stocking both her main site and her Hyena Cart locations.  Over on Hyena Cart, some of the diapers for sale via lottery have reached over 570 entrants; all hoping for the opportunity to buy a goodmama fitted for $33.  For those set up as auctions, many individual diapers are up over $68 with one at $105.  What exactly does a $105 fitted diaper look like?  It’s gorgeous, cute, colorful, fun and well you can see for yourself…

As is obvious by their cult-like following, feedback on goodmamas has been wonderful.  Way to go Suzanne and goodmama!!

We’re fans because they work for our two year old at night and our three month old without needing other sizes. And ohsosoft. :)

You may want to fix a link in your story. Suzanne’s site is http://www.thegoodmama.com. She has nothing to with the far less superior http://www.goodmama.com

Thanks for the mention! Wow, what an exciting day! All the lotteries and auctions and stockings everywhere were definitely exciting on a dark February day. :-) I have the best customers in the world. :-)

The reason I like thegoodmama products is the fact that they are lovingly made by Suzanne… and WELL made! Her prints are amazing, customer service is awesome. What isn’t to like about everything that she sells and makes? Plus she gives great deals on shipping too!! I bought a moby wrap from her too because she’s got such a great deal on them.

She lives up to the moto “be a good mama!” Now that is something worth supporting. A person and a business with integrity. My money is well spent.

I love GM’s for several reasons…first they are a one size diaper which means it will take my baby from newborn to toddler! They might be $33/diaper but if you figure that into each stage it is only $11/stage. Show me another fitted of such great quality that you can get for $11/stage?!

The second reason I love GM’s is their quality. From the stitching to the absorbency, there is nothing lacking in this diaper. I know I can put it on my child and we wont’ have leakage issues.

The third reason I love them is the squishy factor…oh my gosh, have you felt bamboo velour? You could roll around in it and know what a cloud feels like. Doesn’t every child deserve a cloud on their heiny?

And finally I think Suzanne is one of the most genuine WAHM’s I have come in contact with. Customer service goes a long way in my book and I purchase the products I purchase based on not only the quality of the product BUT also the quality of the place I am purchasing them from. From Walmart to HyenaCart to independent WAHM’s, that is my motto.

    Thanks for asking.

My daughter is one of the unfortunate few that the diapers didn’t work on ~cry~ The one I had was SO well made. The biggest thing for me though is Suzanne is one of the sweetest mamas, you can strike up a conversation with her and chat back and forwards like you’ve been friends for life. She is just SO nice! Another great thing is she is always so professional :D Thank you Suzanne you are a great mama that makes great diapers by employing WAHMs Right here in the USA(another BIG plus!) You are a great additiom to the DS community as well ;)

Goodmamas are awesome and are well worth every penny. I’ve tried at lease 20 different diapers on the market and not a single one fit the way our Goodmamas do on dd who is 3. It really seems like they were made just for her. Our entire stash is now made up of Goodmamas and wool.

Customer service is awesome as well. I feel confident spending my money on these as I know if there is any issue with snaps, threading, etc. Suzanne will make it right. She’s a very sweet mom and has gone out of her way to keep up with supply when the demand is out of this world. She has an amazing amount of patience with us as we stalk, fight, and crash her site numerous times just to get one piece of the fluffy goodness.

This is the only brand of diaper I will ever buy. It’s truly a one size and I have confidence that it will take our next lil one from birth to potty training.

    Yayyy Suzanne!

I agree with the previous comments! We love our goodmamas for all the reasons already given – quality, craftsmanship, softness, one-size, hand-made in the USA, and with a such a nice person behind it all. And they are adorable! I really like that Suzanne makes herself so available to her customers, to chat & answer questions. These diapers will continue to make up a good portion of our stash. :)

Though GM’s are a nice diaper, I have read her responses to people questioning her shipping charges and over all practice on forums and find Suzanne to be curt and sometimes snarky.

The diaper itself is functional though not a true One Size as the rise does not allow enough room hould a child go beyond age 18mos to 2 years before Potty Training.

Her prints have a history of fading, not just after several uses, but after the first wash, as well, her snaps are not hidden and therefore leave imprints on the baby.

To top that, her soakers are a bit on the short side, and those with boys who are getting older have to snap the soaker into the front of the diaper instead of the back, which can make for the top of the soaker sticking out the top.

They are a decent diaper, but don’t hold a candle to some of the other WAHM diapers out there In my personal opinion.

As for shipping, rather than using Encardia to keep her shipping prices low, she charges a huge shipping rate to those in Canada, but allows other countries shipping without insurance.

Again this is my personal opinoin. Her new prints are very cute, the quality of the people she hires to sew’s stitching is great, and I personally have never had a problem with snaps coming off as others have.

Goodmamas are by far the best quality fitted diaper available. They are soft (!), well-made, and absorbent. They fit my 15-month-old better than anything else we’ve tried!

I have to disagree with a comment left by a previous poster; these diapers are about as One-Size as “One-Size” gets! Babies and toddlers all have such a variety in their sizes and shapes at any given age, so of course there is no guarantee they’ll fit EVERY baby from birth to potty training. However, I am sure they fit a vast majority, as I have seen posts on DiaperSwappers just in the last day or so from mamas who are able to fold down to the smaller rise/snap setting and crossover snaps on their 18-24 month olds!!

As usual, you can never please everyone all of the time. But anyone considering trying one of Suzanne’s diapers should do their little one a favor and do so! Your baby’s bottom will thank you for the softness! ;o) I am currently in the process of converting our entire stash to ONLY Goodmamas and wool. Stash nirvana, here we come! :o )

Thanks Suzanne, for making such an awesome diaper for our babies, as well as for your professionalism and excellent customer service, and for being such a sweetheart to deal with too!!

I was the mama who started that stocking thread! I was up at the crack of dawn with my little one and I made it my goal to get her a Goodmama that day! What can I say? Goodmamas are the best diapers I’ve ever put on my child. They are worth every penny. It’s a one size diaper after all and my baby has been wearing them since she was 9 weeks old. They’re incredibly soft and well made. And the maker…Suzanne is such a sweet person in so many ways. I’ve dealt with her personally and she is just wonderful, totally going above and beyond to make the customer happy. That makes me come back for more! I wish her nothing but continued success.

    Heather, did you get one???

  • 14 Chele (Snookler) // Feb 23, 2008 at 3:49 pm

Goodmamas are an excellent fit on my 34lb 28 month old. I cannot wait until we are able to fill in our stash with additional GM fitteds, and am excited that I will be able to use them on our new baby as well. When given the choice of which diaper he wants to wear from our stash, this is the one my toddler chooses. That HE prefers the feel and fit speaks volumes to me.

I posted on the Wishboxes but not here yet, and I just have to ditto all the raves from everyone else!

I love these diapers. I really enjoy chatting with Suzanne when she pops over to the forums to just hang out with the other mums. I respect her business practices, her professionalism, and the friendly and polite way she reacts under the stresses she faces as a hugely in demand retailer.
She faces complaints, 800 emails, and insulting comments with admirable grace, and responds to the raves with gracious humility.

I wish her nothing but the best!

I disagree about them not fitting past 2 years old. My dd is 3 ,as I stated earlier, and she is a perfectly healthy looking 3 year old. They fit her to a T. I’ve also seen pictures of them on newborns and they look great. So newborn-3 sounds like a true one size to me.

  • 17 Carla(arthistorychick) // Feb 23, 2008 at 6:16 pm

I love Suzanne’s diapers. I honestly feel they are a true one size diaper. My daughter will almost be 9 months old and is still on the smallest rise setting in her goodmamas. She uses the best materials around and that means a lot to me to know that nothing but the best is on my daughter’s bum. I’m planning on making our diaper stash as much goodmama diapers as I can get. Both for my daughter now and any future children we have. The materials she uses are the best. I think she has superb customer service. Suzanne is a wonderful woman, mother, friend and WAHM. I think despite all the issues she has trying to keep up with demand and handling not so nice reviews and remarks made by mothers on DS and other boards as well as through email she does it all with a smile. She works very hard on ryingto make her customers happy. Goodmama is truly a labor of love and it shows. And I for one can not wait to see what she comes out with next.

I set my alarm just to get up in time for the first stocking of the day on Hyena Cart! The crack of 5:00am my time! That is UNHEARD of for me. NOTHING interrupts my sleep (except my babies) – just ask my husband!

I got my first goodmama prints back in November & was unable to get my hands on any OBVs (or more prints for that matter) until my Wish Box came a week ago.

I was just commenting to my husband today about how well they fit & how much I love them! (The Wish Box was his Christmas present to me.) I tried a good 8-10 other fitted OBV diapers in the weeks before my all OBV goodmamas arrived, and let me tell you, NONE fit like the goodmamas do!

I was very excited & consider myself very fortunate to have been able to purchase 2 of the new prints on the goodmama.com site yesterday. I just can’t wait for them to arrive!

Huge kudos to Suzanne for creating a GREAT product & having outstanding customer service!

  • 19 Jill // Feb 24, 2008 at 1:50 am

I didn’t want to like them since they were sooo expensive and I had other lesser expensive diapers in my stash. I must say, we finally were able to snag a few and oh my goodness! These are amazing diapers! I never thought I would be so excited over a cloth diaper. They are of such high quality, trim, super absorbent, and they fit my 21 month old like a glove! Suzanne is a lovely business woman who always strives to keep customers happy. I love the diapers!

  • 20 TB // Aug 27, 2008 at 9:55 am

Here is my problem… I don’t get why I would wait for months to spend 35 on a diaper?? I love the Goodmama’s I have but I am very distracted from buying anymore and so are my friends as they are soo impossible to get. The worst part is that people buy them to re-sell them and that totally turns me off of them. My entire stash would be Goodmamas if it weren’t for those mentioned above. At this time I am selling the 10 that I have since I can’t seem to make a good rotation of them. I get she makes good money too when she holds off on stocking and randomly stocks. I will say this again, I have tons of friends who can afford them but won’t buy them because of this reason.
