KCK One is the new pattern for a one-size pocket diaper. Offered by Kayla’s Cloth Kits, this adorable new diaper pattern is easy to sew and works well for babies from birth to potty training.
The KCK One features a welt-style pocket opening just above the Aplix. While this can be a little tricky to sew, I was able to make one successfully on the first try. I do suggest making a flannel or other fitted diaper from the pattern first so you can get the pocket opening right before you cut into your precious PUL. While the welt is not difficult to sew, it does take some practice to learn how to make it work properly.

The KCK One requires 1 MIL PUL, lastin brand elastic, and Aplix hook and loop tape. This is one pattern where I do not recommend substitutions. While you can make it out of any fabric, if you want to make a one size pocket 1 MIL PUL will give the best fit. However, the inner lining can be any fabric you choose. I would suggest using microfleece for the inner lining as it gathers better at the legs than suedecloth. The price of the pattern includes 5 free labels.
Kayla Rihani, the KCK One designer, is also offering a unique licensing program for WAHMs who want to sell diapers from her pattern. Most diaper pattern designers will not allow products made from their design to be sold. Kayla has a different view, she wants to see low-income families benefit from her design. When you buy the very low-priced KCK One pattern you are allowed to sew up to 50 diapers for profit. You can be officially licensed to sell KCK One diapers by sending one sample daiper to Kayla. Once she has approved your sample you can sell your 50 diapers. You are required to use the KCK One logo on the diapers, but you have a choice of buying the premade labels from Kayla’s Cloth Kits for 25 cents each or having them printed with your own web site information on it. Sample diapers are then donated to a mom in need in the Chicago area.
So, what if these diapers sell well for you and you want to make more? Kayla offers individually “priced” licensing based on donations of diapers to those in your own area who are in need. This “pay-it-forward” licensing concept is a wonderful way to see more baby behinds in cloth.

[...] There is another pattern that has what they call a “welt pocket” that may be more helpful if you are sewing your own AIO…aka All In Ones, with their built in waterproof shell. Some women have been nervous about it, but this woman has helped by posting a video tutorial on Youtube, and maybe it would be helpful to watch. The welt pocket is a design from Kayla’s Cloth Kits, a recommended pattern, although I wasn’t won over by it. There is a review of this pattern here at Cloth Diaper News. [...]
