Every now and then I come across a product I love so much, that I just feel compelled to share my excitement with the world. Daisy Doodles Diapers definitely fall into this category! I’ve had a couple of these fabulous dipes for almost a year now, and I’ve been really impressed with their fit, function, and the oohs and aahs my boys get when wearing them.

What are Daisy Doodles? They’re a uniquely designed AI2 known as the Bikini Bottoms™ Diapering System. Why do I *heart* them? The reasons are many: they are ultra-trim, come in many adorable colors and print combos, can be custom made to suit your tastes and absorbency needs, and the snap-in soaker means they dry in a jiffy. Often times the soaker is the only part of the diaper which is wet, so you can snap in a new soaker and continue to use the same shell, cutting down on laundry.

How did Daisy Doodles com into existence? When Christa, the owner of Daisy Doodles, first started her business, it was really out of necessity. She was a SAHM, had just given birth to her youngest daughter, and her husband had been laid off work. She was faced with making a choice… either go back to work and put 2 kids in daycare, or make her own way.

She originally looked into cloth diapers after hearing someone mention them on a March 2003 Expectant Mother message board. She previously had no idea that people were using cloth again, and after she discovered they weren’t solely pins and prefolds anymore, she was intrigued. Her main reason for giving cloth a try was because she didn’t know if her family would be able to afford to buy disposable diapers every week.

Christa tried a few different brands and didn’t feel that any were a perfect match for her needs. So, with virtually no sewing experience at all, she decided to design her own. She had a basic sewing machine her mom had given her for Christmas, and she found a serger on eBay. She had no guarantee that her ideas would work, but she knew what she liked and didn’t like, and had a great tester to try them out on. After several prototypes, she came up with her Bikini Bottoms™ pattern. With some crafty free advertising and much word-of-mouth, Daisy Doodles was born and has become a success.

Christa started with AIOs and has expanded to include fitted diapers and training pants, as well. There have been times when business has been slow, and she has been close to throwing in the towel, but Christa says that every time she started looking in the “help wanted” ads, business would pick back up.

Thanks to her business, Christa and her family were finally able to buy their first home in 2006.

What’s the best part about being the Mom behind Daisy Doodles? Christa says, “I love making my own schedule and being home with my girls and available to do things I wouldn’t if I had an 8 to 5 job. Even through the rough times, I wouldn’t trade the time I’ve gotten to be with them for anything.”
